Hello Oysters! We have a couple housekeeping things to announce, plus a poll!

Firstly, we hope you're looking forward to the event on Monday! The game calendar has been updated to reflect May and June dates. Generally, the regular schedule for the game will be:
First week of the month: Event OOC plotting post

Second week of the month: Event is live

Third week of the month: Test drive or CR meme
Our TDM will be posted bimonthly, and current players will be allowed to use TDM threads for AC rewards. The off month will have a general CR meme for players looking to build CR outside of event-specific options. And of course, we encourage player plots (and may have some surprise mini events of our own along the way), and will update the calendar with those as they come up!

There are a couple of changes to our player cap and character limit as well! When we opened the game, we were unsure how many apps we could handle, so we kept the cap low to be safe. Now, after a round of apps, we're confident in our ability to process a larger number! With that in mind, we will be increasing the player cap from 30 to 50, and the cast cap from 5 to 10. We will also be increasing the current character limit from two per player to three per player, though players seeking to app a third character will have to provide an additional AC proof from their current two characters.

Our current planned application cycle is to have them open every other month, on the following schedule:
23rd of the month: Reserves open

30th of the month: Apps open

3rd of the month: Reserves expire

7th of the month: Apps close
That said, we would like to open it up to our playerbase for a vote! We believe we could handle keeping apps open on a perpetual basis (at least for a time, reserving the right to switch back to an app cycle whenever we felt we could no longer keep up), and were wondering what you players would like. Would you prefer a standard cycle with reserves and apps opening and closing, or to have applications open on a continuous basis until we approach our player cap? Please comment under the appropriate heading in the comments below with your vote!

Also, Discord! Is there any interest in having a game Discord server? We could make one, if you all would like to use one!

Lastly, we're first time mods, and getting this game up and running has been a learning experience already. We wanted to say that we appreciate your patience and understanding as we iron out details and try to make this the best game it can be! If you have any questions, please leave them on the first comment to this page. If you have suggestions for things we can do to improve, both as mods and the game as a whole, our mod contact page is always open and comments are screened.

Thank you for joining us! We look forward to telling some fun stories with all of you.

I'm actually okay with whichever option the mods find easiest, but scheduled apps and tdm s do make it easier to sell a game to people sometimes & would give you guys down time in terms of reviewing apps and such/would allow you to plan events around them?

I agree with the above comment re: making it easier to pitch the game with scheduled apps! Also, with the event schedule as it currently is, with the apps ending in the first week the second week event is well-placed to be an "intro" to new characters, whereas with entirely open apps there's sometimes the issue of new characters not having a mingle opportunity if they want to get out and start forming lots of CR quickly.

I live by schedules and routines. Time TDMs, time apps, and time events going by the month makes it easier to track.

I would say that it's really up to what you, the mods, want. I generally think that scheduled apps are good, depending on what you're looking for. If you're looking for new characters to arrive in waves for the arc of the game's story, then obviously, scheduled is the better way to go. If you don't care about that and the oysters are (handwavingly or intentionally) meant to be coming in, in a perpetual stream, then it makes more sense to let apps follow in the same vein, so long as you, the mods, can keep up with that pace.

As a player, though, I honestly don't care lol. I think both ways have pros and cons to them, so neither option is superior to the other, imo. (I have no idea if this input is helpful or completely obnoxious for its indecision so I apologize if it's the latter)

first off, i'd say that at the end of the day, it's your game and you're modding it, so whatever is easiest for you guys to handle should be a major consideration, but it's definitely appreciated that you want to weigh our opinion!

that said, from a player perspective, i tend to find that a scheduled app period helps with introductions and events running smoother in game, particularly with regards to plotting and pacing.

To be perfectly honest, I have a personal preference for continuously open apps. However, I do think this setup lends itself well to the group introductions that come from having scheduled apps. But ultimately, what works best for you will also be best for the game.

I'm thinking the way this game is set up will lend itself best to scheduled apps, especially for new players looking to get settled before monthly events. It's always weird apping into a game where everyone else is in the midst of some big, plot-changing event, and your character is just kind of there, twiddling their thumbs with the usual 'where is this and what's going on' questions.

And if you find it's not really working out for you, you can always try open apps

Adding my vote in with everyone else that whatever makes it easier on the mods is good with me.

To answer your question about the Discord server: I'd probably join a Discord server if there was one but I also don't think we're missing anything if we don't have one, if that makes sense...

Same here. If it's an option, I'd use it, but if it's not that's not a big deal to me either.

discord servers are neither here nor there for me, tbh! there's the potential that if the game is larger it could make co-ordination easier, but it's certainly not a necessity.

I tend to hang around discord, but my participation in larger chats can be spotty. Still, I'd probably join!

I'm not too good with bigger chats but I definitely wouldn't say no to a discord server.

I'd probably join if there was one, but I've never been great with bigger chats, so I'm fairly neutral on it!

I like discords, but I do realize it's more work for the mods to manage so I'm ok with not having one

Belatedly swings by I missed this - I'd join one but no big deal either way!
