THAT IS JUST SO TYPICALLY ME

It's not clear how many days it's been since you arrived in Wonderland. With it stuck in perpetual twilight, it could have been days, perhaps longer — everything starts to blur together, in this artificially joyful place. Maybe you've started to feel like you you're getting used to it, maybe not...

But eventually, something happens to break the monotony. Your ears begin to ring, and ring, and ring and then — stop. The lights become blinding, forcing you to squeeze your eyes shut and try to rub the afterimage of all that light from them — but when you open your eyes, you still can't see.

The staff don't understand when you ask them what's happened to you. "You've always been like this", they insist. They sign at you, or try to hand you papers written in braille — if you insist you've never signed in your life, or that you can't read braille, they laugh at your funny joke. You begin to wonder — have you always been this way? You were so sure... But everyone around you is equally sure of their truth, and their voices are so much louder.

As if that weren't enough, nothing in the hotel can be found in the same place twice. All the shops keep switching places, once you enter one area it's as though everything shifts in the minutes before you leave again. Getting back to your room is a struggle — where are the elevators? Finding food is nearly impossible — the Pig & Pepper was there, but now it's not. The staff are equally useless here — they have no idea what you mean about moving shops. Where would you want to move to when all your needs are accounted for right here?

What is going on?

EVENT ONE

Britney really did say it best. For this inaugural event, which will run from May 11th-15th, Oysters will be losing either their vision or their hearing. For the duration of this period, they will retain absolutely no function in the affected sense, being rendered fully blind or deaf. Oysters can wake up on the 11th to find their sense gone, or it can happen to them suddenly at any point that day.

As though life hasn't suddenly become hard enough, the interior of the Hotel will cease to remain stationary. You may have entered the Pool from the lobby, but exit it into the middle of the casino. The Pig & Pepper Buffet is never in the same place twice, and seems to move right when you desperately need a meal. Confusion and frustration are the name of the game, here, and the Hotel aims to score big with these emotions.

Throughout this week, the staff will gaslight the hell out of Oysters. Anyone who demands to know what's happened to their senses will be gently "reminded" that this is how they've always been, and the Pig & Pepper has always had an extrance through the Pool — yes, even though an hour ago they said the entrance was through the casino. No amount of yelling, cajoling, begging, or threatening will get Hotel staff to change their tune. Speaking of...

What'd they do: Nothing that would actually hurt anybody, but he would definitely grab staff by the shoulders and shake vigorously, does that count? Probably while yelling because he can't hear his own voice!

Richie Tozier | It

What'd they do: Richie tends to get physical when he's freaked out, so there's a good chance he'll end up punching someone in or around the face area out of sheer panic. He won't get into a full-on fight, necessarily, but he's a big guy and could do some damage without really meaning to.

Team Up: He's alone; I imagine this starts out as something unintentional, actually, but then once he starts to wrap his head around the reality, it's only going to be natural for him to poke around a little more and see what he can find. I'd be open to a team-up if the numbers lean in that direction but in this particular instance, it's not necessarily my preference, if that makes sense?

Event Plans: Crowley can function pretty well without his hearing as he's used to only being able to hear very low frequencies as a snake. Crowley's sense of smell/taste and touch are lot more useful to him and he's probably picked up the ability to read lips in the last 6000+ years.
CR Desires: Out to make friends or aggravate people, Crowley isn't fussy on that front. Would love many a comical misunderstanding

Event Plans: Wei Wuxian has dealt with low visibility before and been fine, so I want to throw a bit of a curveball at him this time and see how he deals with losing his hearing! He's going to be exploring a lot and might maybe shake up a staff member who tells him for the fiftieth time he's never been able to hear. Just a little! This is a stressful time okay don't judge him.
CR Desires: Literally anything! Wei Wuxian is a pure soul but he is also just absolutely full of trouble, so he can be really annoying if you're looking for some negative CR. If you want a friend, he's good at that too! As he's a (sort of) lone canon warrior at the moment, I'd love for him to make some connections with other Oysters.

Lost Sense: Richie's had a deep-seated fear of going blind his whole life, so he's definitely losing his sight. Prepare for an emotional feast, y'all.
Event Plans: He'll probably spend a good amount of time panicking and yelling at people, so please feel free to help him out/get incredibly annoyed at him!
CR Desires: I'd love to interact with as many people as possible & get some CR (postive or negative) going! :)

Sam Wilson | Marvel Cinematic Universe

Lost Sense: Hearing
Event Plans: He's likely not going to be fighting back against the staff, but it is a possibility if he gets agitated enough or if he sees someone else getting physical with the staff as well. I'll likely also throw him in for the exploration stuff have! He have some conversational ASL skills from working at the VA, but will mostly be relying on the Empathies for communication and is going to be super unnerved about it.
CR Desires: Anything and everything! I love both friendly kinds who Sam can good around with as well as more serious or quiet people that he can try to draw out. I also love assholes and jerks, I'm 100% down with negative CR whether it be full blown enemies or more like frenemies. Sam himself is likely looking for allies he can trust during all this - he's not used to working without a team/partner and is definitely feeling it.

How up for mix-ups between ASL and BSL would you be? And also furious scribbling/note passing when they realize their mix-up (because Crowley is a demon, ergo paranoid, ergo he doesn't trust the Empathies at all)

Event Plans: miguel's canonically really sensitive to light thanks to spider-dna^TM and has had issues on occasion as a result, so outside of the duration it's not going to be entirely unfamiliar to him. he'll definitely explore somewhat, and also be Less Than Enamoured with the staff.

Event Plans: TBH I don't have any just yet so much as I know Eddie's going to think that this is somehow Pennywise and he is NOT a fan of it. Also, he's 100% going to panic because that's what Eddie does best on a good day and losing his hearing does not a good day make lol
CR Desires: Totally open but I'm definitely going to lean toward someone who has lost their sight so that it's easier for the characters to lean on one another. If one can't see and the other can't hear, they can maybe try to fill in the gaps for one another.

Wei Wuxian | Mo Dao Zu Shi

Event Plans: Since one Wei Wuxian is losing their hearing and Lan wangji is potentially losing their voice, I'm going to let this one lose his sight and just have an all around really interesting time trying to navigate a constantly changing Wonderland. Someone..please be his eyes...even though he's going to have no idea that you can't actually hear him.
CR Desires:ALL OF IT. No really..I love canon and cross-canon CR equally. He's not going to be completely useless because he's wandered around a woods blindfolded before and still managed to be fine and hunt spirits like a good cultivator should. So he'll be more upbeat about this then he probably should be.

She's also losing her sight, but I guess the upside is they can hear each other? River is also not quite as upset as she could be about this b/c her other senses/instincts are excellent, thank you assassin training. But also, she is going to be clumsier than usual and frustrated. I'm looking forward to it.

Lost Sense: Mute (voiceless)
Event Plans: I'm up for anything and everything! Join him up for exploration of the hotel or experiencing things go topsy-turvy! Lan Wangji will be mute and loss his voice, so he'll be frustrated that he won't be able to speak...but he'll work his way out of it. For the deaf, he'll text or use body language like nodding his head or use hands. For the blind, he might help and lead people out of trouble/danger, but since he can't be recognized unless he's does some poking and writing on your hand. I'm actually terrible because in canon, he's doesn't speak much or is always taciturn and doesn't use his voice if any at all and speak less than a few words. It's always "..." or "Mn" with him anyway, but now it will be like that for the entire event.
CR Desires: I want everything! You're all welcome to hit me up, ask for assistance, or etc. I'll top-level and tag around!
Other: It's going to be an interesting challenge for me if he doesn't use any dialogue at all...

Mikumo Guynemer | Macross Delta

Lost Sense: Hearing
Event Plans: Mikumo probably isn't going to be pleased with the hearing loss at the beginning because she already got her senses damped down to human coming here, so outright losing hearing for a singer is going to be a Very Bad Experience for her. She'll probably vent it by being incredibly passive-aggressive to the hotel staff and trying to get at least something done to take her mind off things, which will lead into exploration stuff.
CR Desires: Pretty much open to anything! Mikumo's used to working with people through difficult situations so she'll probably try to be a bit of an anchor for people having a harder time, or there's the opportunity to see her confident mask down for a bit when everything starts out. And, of course, forming potential friendships through exploration shenanigans.

I'd love to have her and Sam run into each other during this! Maybe in the beginning when it first starts, and they can both realize it's not just them and try to question the staff together?

Lost Sense: Sight
Event Plans: Nothing definite. But River has some pretty solid instincts and her other senses are excellent. Even if you want to discount the non-human side of her DNA, she was trained and conditioned to be lethal, and that sort of thing hangs around. That said, she's never really had to deal with this particular kind of loss before, and she isn't going to be thrilled. Please don't let her walk into the swimming pool.
CR Desires: Help she will deny she needs and quite possibly refuse. Friends. Irritants. I'm up for anything, honestly. Give me everything.

Sessyoin Kiara | Fate/Grand Order

Lost Sense: Hearing
Event Plans: Kiara hasn't lost her hearing before, so this'll be a different experience for her. She's not going to be too distressed, more not exactly thrilled about it (even if she has no clue it's not permanent). So I don't think she'll be throwing down with the staff. But she'll definitely be exploring.
CR Desires: Anything really! Game just started, so I definitely want to get CR of all kinds going!
